Doctors in the US are urging millions of people
to take an aspirin a day to prevent strokes and
heart attacks. But studies according to `What

show that this may actually increase the risk of
these two conditions as well as slowly
destroying your eyesight, resulting in blindness
later in life.
Researchers have found that such
long-term aspirin use could make you blind by
increasing your risk of
Macular degeneration,
and increase the risk of cataracts by up to 44
percent.
Macular degeneration is already the
leading cause of blindness in people over 55 in
the US, and doctors still have no effective
treatments.
Doctors are pushing aspirin
because it thins the blood, keeping it flowing
smoothly so dangerous clots do not form.
Thinning the blood is thought a good idea,
because thick blood moves slowly and is more
likely to clot and cause a stroke. Unfortunately
